port 1900 attack?

I just got a waring that an "intrusion attempt" occured from 206.188.2.180 and the attack was at port 1900. Per Shields Up (www.grc.com) that is the UPnP port!?!

The regular Shields Up tests show I'm "completely stealthed."

So how do you fix / protect Plug-n-play port 1900?

TIA

TR

Is this with Windows XP? Because everything I could find on protecting port 1900 said the fix was supposed to be included starting with SP1 for XP. So, if you're running XP and already have at least SP1 installed, I don't really have a clue for what else to try.

Were you browsing at www.auran.com? That's where that IP resolves to.

Hi All

Sorry, haven't been around the last few days...

Thanks PR!

Yes, I'm running XP with SP1, juppy.

Yes, I was following a news letter link from auran about their new release of Trainz. Odd, as they are a "trusted" site to me...

Thanks for the link, Statica. Do I properly assume that disabling 1900 as describe will not affect normal operations?

Thanks

TR
