LAN via 2 Network-Cards in one PC
Hello there,
I have a question about a problem which is really killing me. I have a cable-ethernet consisting of a router/switch which is connected to three PC's. Sometimes a friend of mine comes along with his laptop so we can have some LAN-games. Unfortunately I cannot connect the laptop to the router, because it is far away. So I have two LAN-Ports in my PC, where one is connected to the router steadily and the other one via cross-over-cable for the laptop. But we cannot get any connection to work. What do I have to do in order to have access to the LAN via router and to integrate the laptop over the other LAN-port? Please be very precise, because my knowledge about networks is far limited. What might be important: I have NO broadband internet-connection. Thank you for your help in advance. Mr(ain't got no clue of)LAN |

There is no easy way of doing this. You need to connect the laptop to the switch.

yes, you can use a crossover cable and connect 2 pc's but what you describe above, like glc said, is not easily accomplished. if the laptop is to far away, you will have to go wireless or suffer a very long cable strung across the floor.
