If you are using Windows, try re-running the internet connection wizard.
Are you able to connect to any network shares, or is this the only machine on your net?

Is the router and wireless card a new addition? Did you connect directly to the router via ethernet cable before you tried wireless so you could set up the router?

yes i tried taht Panama Red, originally the cable modem was hooked up to a PC, now it has a Router, and it works, meaning the router is configured. But the problem is my Wireless card detects the SSID and conects to it, but when i open IE or AOL, i cant go online...packets are recieved and sent, but not so many and not at a quick rate...

gmanz, would you by any chance be using WEP for encryption? If so change it to WPA... thats what worked for me... the card doesn't except WEP

If you are using AOL Broadband for your service and it's DSL with an AOL-provided DSL modem (Actiontec, Westell, or Modem Blaster), you need to set up the router in a very specific way. You need to create a dedicated screen name for the router PPPoE login, and change the router's MTU to 1400.

just my 2 cents, does your router have an auto configuration wizard?

also, is your router getting a valid IP address from the modem??? I would assume so if you are getting packets sent and recieved. Can you ping?

also have you tried physically hooking it up to the router and seeing if it works there????

i wanna make sure i have this right...

you have association with the access point? Your have no internet connectivity correct?

You have your network set-up with NO encryption?

Windows will time out after about 2 mins of not recieveing an IP from the router if there is an issue - this will give you an "autonet" IP address which will allow you to connect to the network but not access the internet. Have you tried making sure that the modem powers on and stabilizes... then turn the router on... then turn the PC on....

Give that a try and see how it goes...

What could your tech want with your router?.. not really sure.. maybe he wants to make sure it is working o.k. by using it on another network?.. maybe firmware update I cannot say for sure... anyways..

lemme know who it works with the "autonet" issue and we'll go from there
