I currently have a network setup both wired and wireless. I can transfer files between the wired computers with no problem. I have a problem transfering certain files between the wired and wireless computers. I get the error message:
"specified network name is no longer available" The network is up and running cause I can access all files on all the computers. Small files I can transfer but big files I can't. All computers are running XP SP2. The router is a Linksys SRX and the wireless computer has a Linksys wireless SRX card. I did a search on Google but no specific answers to the problem. Thanks for any help Cheers |

Make sure all firewalls are disabled on all computers. You may want to run a malware scan on the computers bringing that error message up, since being able to transfer only certain files points to an issue with the OS. What type of encryption are you using for the wireless part of the network?

I did a test with all firewalls off and it still wouldn't work. Would only let me transfer 1kb files but nothing more than that. I have no malware on all my pc's.
I did a test: On the pc I am having a problem with I hooked up a Cat 5 cable and disconnected the wireless card. Now I am able to transfer all files with no errors to and from that pc even with the firewalls on. Cheers |

Try updating the firmware on the router, then do a hard reset on it and reconfigure it.

I already updated the firmware to the latest version from Linksys. I also did a hard reset of the router. I turned off all firewalls.
For some reason, it still won't let me transfer files from wired to wireless and vise versa. I still get the same error and it will only let me transfer 1kb files. It's baffling, cause it shouldn't matter. **shrugs** Like I said in the previous post, I did a test and hooked all the computers up wired to the router and all works fine. ![]() I love troubleshooting but this is beyond me...lol Cheers |

total Shot in the dark here.
What encrption do you have running on the wireless? 64bit wep, 128 wep? other? Try disabling all wireless encrption for a test and see if it makes a difference. I don't recommend leaving it that way, but something to try.

I didn't think of that, thanks for the heads up. My wireless is setup for WPA.
I will try it tomorrow since it is late. Cheers |
