Unhappy C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

I need some help. Im by no means a techie, know some stuff. So be gentle with me

I was helping my friend with her computer yday, she has XP Pro installed. I installed a wanadoo broadband modem. I have ensured in the tools, there are no LAN settings selected, however she is continuing to get the following error when launching IE: C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

What can I do to fix this?

I can not confirm if this message was already there before I installed the modem, she said she hasnt used it for some time. Only said it wasnt working before.

Her wee boy is keen to get back in touch with his friends on msn, so if someone can help me asap, that would be great!!

the system is looking for a DNS server (you probably didn't check the "obtain IP address automatically" and "obtain DNS information" automatically) so the PC can't find one.

make sure that:
1) you have TCP/IP enabled under the network settings
2) make sure that the 2 boxes mentioned above are checked

then report back.
