sharing DSL with Mac & Windows
I am not sure how to do this. Currently I have one of the computer running Windows XP that is hooked up to DSL modem. I have Verizon.
I also have a older iBook Mac computer running Mac X. Can I buy another DSL modem and hook it up to the iBook? If I can do it, can the two computers use the Internet at the same time? If not, what is the cheapest way to make it work? |

You don't need another modem. You need to buy a router. Then you can share the connection between the computers. There should be no problem having a Mac and a Windows machine on the same network.

Your Verizon modem may in fact be capable of being used as a router. It depends on the exact model.

Any consumer-grade router you can pick up at a computer or electronics store will work. Some good brands are Linksys, D-Link, or Belkin.

The 6100 is already a router. You should be able to connect it to the uplink port on a cheap 4 or 5 port switch and service multiple computers. If not, you will need to get a router, convert the Westell to a bridge-only device, and set up your PPPoE login on the router.
