E mail problem

I am having trouble accessing my e-mail. I can get to the site and get the log on screen, but I get a "server not found" message or site not found message. This is happening with two internet based accounts that I have. I can surf the web, use search engines etc.., just not get my e-mail.

I had just used it earlier today, but now I cannot.

Was wondering if I need to adjust somthing, protocols, security settings?

I am using windows ME.

thanks all

Do you mean ISP, e-mail? ISP is aol (i know i know, but i get it for next to nothing through work). The e-mail i am trying to access is through hotmail and yahoo.

The other day, it just up and worked. I had no problems since the last time I posted but now I am having the same problem.

Thought that maybe aol had some sort of filtering software, but the fact that it is intermittent confuses me.

AOL caches everything - don't use the AOL browser to get your mail, use IE or a 3rd party browser and don't use a proxy.

I tried using I.E. the first time it happened and got through. The second time it happened, I got the same result with my i.e.

I had firefox on my last hard drive, the hd I have in now I got from my brother, reformatted and re-installed the os. (this is what made me wonder about any settings ports or protocols that may have to be changed or added)

I havnt re-installed my mozilla yet. I wonder if this crappy aol is hijacking my i.e?

on a side note, as of now I can access both accounts again. Earlier I could not. Tommorrow, or even later, it may not come up again. strange eh?

Any hoo, it is only a minor inconveience at this time, since in less than a month I will be getting married and then be using my wifes new dell and DSL. It is now just a mystery that I would like to solve in case someone else ever has the same problem but without the marriage and community property option that I currently have...hee hee.
