a static route is basically:
a command that says any traffic from device/network A goes directly to device/network B using this specific path. many routers can use routing protocols to choose the best path for the data to flow but there are some cases that is not the best solution. Static routing can cause issues in case of WAN/LAN failure. static routes don't adapt to changes in the network as is allowed with protocols like EIGRP or OSF or BGP. |
