Connecting two PCs
Hi
I have two PCs running and i hope to connect them, as i use the less powerful one to surf and collect graphic ideas, but the graphical work is done on my other PC, at the moment i transfer using a flash drive so a cable will be a lot less hassle, i have read on the net that this can be done using a (USB Bridged Networking Cable) ? is this correct ? do i need software ? or do i need a different cable ? so my question is how do i connect my two PCs ? any help / advice greatly appreciated thank you, Fizz

Have you tried setting up a home network and sharing your files?

Go into control panel and use the "Network Setup Wizard", it's very easy to follow, another very easy way with XP is to put your XP CD in your machine and when the GUI screen pops up just click the network wizard and follow the steps, you will need to give your machines a unique name and you will also have to give your network a name (MSHOME is the default).
Once you have done this you will need to go to your files and allow sharing in the file, folder or disk properties, you can choose what you want to share ie: the entire disk or just a folder or file. I have never done it via a USB cable but I am sure it works the same way, saying that LAN cards are cheap as chips these days so maybe a quick trip to PCWorld for a lan card and cat5 cable might be in order. |

go to control panel, network and internet settings, then setup or change your home or small office network under pick a task. Then just follow the directions of the wizard
EDIT: guess I was late to the post lol |
