Problem with Windows XP Firewall

Whenever I turn on or restart my comp and if the Windows XP Firewall doesn't automatically turned on, it would disable my ethernet connection. I've already tried to turn the FW back on but Windows doesn't let me. Anybody knows how to fix this problem, please show me how to fix it. If the Firewall is on whenver i reboot my comp, the ethernet works fine.

Thank YOu.

Have you scanned for viruses, trojans, and spyware?

Hi Glc,

Can it be possible that it is happening because of firewall client if he has one?
As far as I remember this problem occured in an Institue where the user wasn't able to turn on firewall on WinXP. If he reinstalls firewall client, will it solve the problem?

Use Windows updates and that'll download all the lastest patches, etc and maybe SP2 if you don't have it already.

Please check

Please check whether you have SP2 in your Machine or not by right clicking "My Computer"---------------> Properties.

If you donot see SP2 in System Properties then you should download it and install it in your System. For further info about how to install SP2 visit this link:
www.support.microsoft.com/gp/windowsxpsp2

Your Firewall might be blocking your Systems internet connection. After installing SP2 ,just check whether it works or not, if it doesnot work then contact your internet service provider.
