Windows Me wireless internet connection

I was trying to get internet from my wireless linksys card but its not happening. I already installed all the drivers needed for the card and it works, but still, no internet.
Is this something else that has to be done in windows me? I really dont know a lot about anything later than windows 2000.

Use the Linksys utility to set up a profile. You will need to know the name of your wireless network (SSID), type of encryption (WEP 64 bit, WEP 128 bit, WPA), and the encryption key. You can read all this out in the wireless section of the router setup.

Yes, if you download the driver software for the adapter, it includes the utility. With WinME, the utility must be running in the startup. It would be best if you uninstalled the card completely and reinstall it in proper sequence - which is *usually* software first, shut down, put the card in.

The drivers and software for the card is installed. I inserted the WEP key and it connects to to router, but when i open internet explorer, it says either action failed or cannot connect.

Assign the card a static IP. The DHCP times out before the card associates.

Use the following:

IP: 192.168.1.99
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: The actual DNS as seen on the router WAN status page.

You can set all this in the Linksys card utility.
