Boom Restarting loses my IE connection

Hey all!! Just built my first PC (with pro help, of course!). I connected my cable modem with ethernet connection and was online fine. When I shut down and started up again, a message saying "Limited or No Connection" appeared. After calling my cable/ internet provider, they walked me thru a few ways to search and repair the connection. I could not get the con to work while on the phone with support. Later that evening, I turned on the comp, unplugged and replugged the ethernet cable, did some command prompts that I tried earlier, AND ta-dah, I was back online. But wait, I went to bed, woke the next day, and WTH, "Limited or No Connection"!!! I was told to uninstall the network driver, then restart. That seems to work fine. But not every time! I have XP SP2 with Firewll "on". Are there any fixes? I'll try them all. If GLC is here, you gave me good advice on my m-audio soundcard, but I really need to get online....Help, please I'm on now using my old 98SE system,Old Reliable

Besides the XP firewall are you using another third party firewall?

Is this a Nvidia chipset motherboard with the Nvidia firewall? If so, disable that.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't returned to this post in a while. I ended up going back to the comp shop where I built the pc ( a week ago) and had the owner look at it. I left it with him for a couple of hours and....TaDah!!! All is well and I'm back online Thanx for the help, I apprexiate the time. Erik.
