wireless network problem detecting router
Hey everyone, I have a client machine I'm working on that is having some strange issues with the wireless router.
First off she has a gateway laptop (two of them) with a linksys wrt54g router. When I first arrived one laptop connected fine to router wirelessly. The other was connecting fine as well, but could not print to the printer that was connected to the router. From within her network config (wireless), her pc detected two different networks. So I set her default connection to the linksys net and her pc started printing again. I continued to clean up her machine by running lavasoft ad-aware from usb disc, which detected a fair amount of registry keys that were infected. I removed all that was infected and followed that by replacing norton AV with grisoft avg AV (the free version). After rebooting her pc it no longer detected any wireless network and no previously connected networks were listed under her net config. It seemed as though it lost its memory of all previous connections?? I need help figuring this one out because I have been there twice now and done numerous adjustments on her router but still no connect? Although her pc can connect via cable ethernet the wireless is not working at all. Also the laptop came with a built in WIC card. Can someone please offer me some help because I'm running out of ideas. Thanks -last note: i tried adjustments under device manager by uninstall/reinstall wic card but still no detection of network. I think I might have deleted something in temp folder that needed to be there but im not sure. Also she had another malware remover program on there that i disabled while running my own, not sure if there was a compatibility issue between my lavasoft and the one installed on the pc. |

Download the latest wireless driver from Gateway, uninstall the current wireless software, and install the updated one.
