It runs till you stop it - how many passes, and are there any errors?

Congratulations - you just found your problem. You have defective ram. Now test it with one module at a time if you have more than one module to see which module is bad.

Then that module must be bad - try it with another module.

Ok i tested all of the modules seperately and 2of the 4 had errors after running through all the tests once. I ran the test again with the 2 good modules just to be sure and no errors occured. Should i just throw away the old modules? I connected the ethernet cable and it didnt restart but i am having problems connection to the internet. I tired to run the wizard and set up a network but it isnt working, everytime i load explorer it says the page can not be displayed. Am i missing something here?
EDIT1: Also what programs should i be running with Norton to ensure complete security? |

Either throw them away or get them replaced on warranty - most branded ram has lifetime warranty.
Power your broadband modem and your router (if you have one) off for a few minutes and restart them. Check device manager and make sure the network adapter is not flagged. Fix the Winsock with this: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/N...nSockFix.shtml Last edited by glc; 09-26-2006 at 06:30 AM. |

I restarted the modem and router and ran the Winsock thing and it didnt work. Then i realized that I installed Norton before setting up the internet connection and i guess it was just blocking everything so i uninstalled and reinstalled it and now its working fine. Thanks for all of the help. Should i be running anything else for spyware along with Norton?

I wouldn't use Norton at all - but that's just my opinion. Spend some time browsing other threads in this forum for ideas.

Nope, Symantec does not give refunds. If you have a router, the XP SP2 firewall is adequate. If you don't have a router, consider buying one (assuming you have broadband cable or DSL). It acts as a hardware firewall.
