ICS Windows & Linux

I am running Windows XP on my desktop computer which is connected to a wireless network using a PCI wireless card.

My laptop is running Linux distro. Kubuntu. I would like to use the ethernet connection to share the internet from my desktop to me laptop.

Can anyone explain how to go about this?

My wireless internet is using a static IP and the router has MAC address filtering enabled if this will affect the setup.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys, Tom

Samba is the easiest way I found, all linux distro's come with it. Here's a link.

Cool, thanks for the information.

How should I configure Windows?

Can I just use the small network wizzard and set it up as the computer that connects directly to the internet?

To share the internet connection, you need to put a router between your modem, and computers. Samba would be used to share your files between linux, and windows

As long as your private IP to the router is NOT in the 192.168.0.x subnet, you can use ICS. Share the wireless connection TO the local area connection and set Linux to use DHCP.
