Logical vs. physical
Can someone please explain to me simplistically the difference betwwen logical vs physical when it comes to a network model OSI. I understand it when it comes to file that it is a collection of data stored together. This is the way files appear to users. Physically, however, a single file can be divided into many pieces scattered across a disk.
I appreciate it. TIA Last edited by 24giovanni; 08-27-2006 at 11:47 AM. |

same thing.
the logical design shows PC's cluster together and attaching "here" (access layer) and servers "there" (distribution layer) irrespective of physical/georgraphic location. physical design is much more granular. PC 104536, with IP address 10.5.98.126, located on the 4th floor of building 6, runs back to closet #3 and attaches to port 3 on switch #4 in rack 3c with roles back up to.... much more granular and detailed. |
