Internet Network Hacked! Help

Hi,

About 2 weeks ago i purchased a Linksys wireless G router with speed booster for my home network. When i first set it up i didnt setup a password for the router just so i could get everything to work with out having to keep on putting in the password to test my network. Anyways some one around me made a password and now they have me by the balls i have 3 Comps in my network and now i can see his computer on my network. what can i do to reset the password on my router which is in my postion and get rid of this person from my network. Any help would be greatly appreciated i dont want to have to buy a new router.

Thanks for your help

Reset it like Rave said, then be sure to setup a password right away, and you should probably turn WEP or WPA too, whichever it supports. (WPA is much more secure if it supports it.)

If you access your routers setup page (type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of IE) when the little window opens leave the username blank and then set the password to "admin" without the quotes, once into the setup pages you can set the router to restore the default settings which will wipe out the password he has set.
If he has changed the password for the setup page you have to do the reset stated above, on the back of your router on the right hand side is a little reset button, press it in for thirty seconds and the router will reset to default.
Doing this is going to restore all the default settings and you will have to set it all back up again.
Can you tell us what model of Linksys router you have and how many compters are connected to it? how many hardwired and how many wirelessly?

He can't be far. Suite up and find him.
Make him answer for all the wicked he has done. And save the girl... kidding.

Seriously tho, if you know who it is just call him/her out one day.(better if more people are around) If anything it will be comical to watch them sweat as they fumble for words to try and explain his/her self.

ps: i would get a kick out of, but that is just my twisted sense of humor

pps: sorry i wasnt helpfull but the above got all the things i know how to do.

I like the last post. You could say, we have two ways to handle this. You can pay me half of my internet bill plus damages for my having to redo the network, or we can turn you in for illegally accessing my network.

So much for free wireless .if they would of just bumned off regular i would of never made a password. I did take a screen shot of all the sytems on my network and shared a file on the network with this pic in it named "EVIDENCE"...lol
Anyways, all the systems my network are wired i purchased a wireless router for my psp. All of the networks in the area are password protected.

I use my network to setup render farms for my 3d work. Rendering takes a verylong time with only one system, but now i have to this all over again..well i better get stated thanks for all the help guys...

You could always just have fun with him afterwards and set up a kitten-net for him like someone suggested a few weeks ago.

If all your systems are hardwired all you need to do is change the password in your routers setup, that will stop him accessing your system.
As soon as I get chance I will check my Linksys router and see if you can just simply switch off the wireless capability, you could then use your psp hardwired untill you understand how to set the system up securely yourself and in the mean time keep the leecher out.

You can switch off the wireless capability. I have a WRT45G Linksys router and all you have to do is press the illuminated Cisco Systems button on the front of the router. Walla...wireless disabled. If you want it back just simply press the button again.

Oddly enough I have a WRT54G and I thought I read that somewhere but just wanted to reread to make sure (also didn't want to press the button on the front of mine in case I had to wave bye bye to my internet connection )

One other thing you can do is set up MAC filtering on your router...where only devices with approved MAC addresses can access your network. Things you should do for security purposes; enable MAC filtering, change your SSID to something other than Linksys, disable broadcasting of SSID, and get yourself some form of WEP/WPA encryption .

Wow thanks for all the helpfull suggestions..I guess i could go to his house and take his laptop and just smash it...lol and then kick his ass. Well im going to go one step at a time, first im going to hold the reset button on my linksys router WRT45G for 30 secs??? is that right
Then i need to use the linksys cd and setup everything. Now when i use the cd its going to ask me to make a password...Thats going to be password i use to access the 192.168.1.1?
cause when i try to access it now i get "401 Unauthorized Authorization required."

is this correct so far?

Once i get this done im going to start protecting my systems on the network cause if i loose all my work cause some one decided to break into my network im going to kill my self...just kidding but i will def feel like killing my self.

Awsome band i meet them 2 days ago.."VOICST"...they have 2 songs that are pretty good. Sticky Plans..and What ever i want from life. Good stuff
