adding a wireless connection to my pre-existing dsl-desktop cnnxn

Please help me as I am new to home networking / wireless routers:

I already have a desktop connected via dsl modem to the wall. i am thinking of getting a new dell laptop 1210m with a wireless router. can i piggyback a wireless internet connection for my new laptop onto the pre-existing dsl connection while retaining the hard connection from my desktop to the wall? if so, how would the actual setup work?

i noticed the wireless router has 4 LAN and 1 WAN ports. would it go something like this:
connect wall to dsl modem
connect dsl modem to wireless router WAN port (which enables internet on my new laptop)
connect wireless router LAN port to old desktop (to retain dsl connection for my old desktop)

is this how it works? if so, i'm guessing all i really need to make sure of is that i have the right connectors for these connections, right?

1. On the desktop, delete the existing broadband connection. All you need is the local area connection.

2. Connect the DSL modem to the router WAN port, connect the desktop to one of the numbered switch ports on the router.

3. Log into the router, set it up for PPPoE with your username and password, configure the wireless section.

4. Configure the laptop for wireless.
