Access Denied message...
If you are networking XP Pro and XP Home and can't access the Pro box from the Home one, try this solution.

 -- I recently noticed I had only 1/2 a network. No biggie since I never actually set one up, but I noticed my Pro box sees the Home box, but not the other way around. I'll check it out, thanks!

I've got one XP Home PC talking to 2 XP Pro PC's without any issues and I never did any of that stuff, all I did was run the networking wizard, does the wizard do this for you?

Others may disagree, but I never run the Network setup wizard. I always go into the Network properties and setup protocol and network bindings manually. Seems to work best for me.

I totally agree, I try to avoid any kind of XP wizard tbh as I like to know what's going on and I find that if I do things manually I'm kept in the loop (so to speak) :-)
IMHO Gandalf is the only wizard worth bothering with

This also might be the solution for the access denied message, it was for me.
Check this location in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA The DWord RestrictAnonymous should be set to 0 to allow access to your shared folders. If it is set to 1, it will cause the access denied message to come up.
