Wireless router help

I just got a linksys broadband router and installed as instructed on my computer.

Whe it is all finished I can see the computer is connected and the signal strenght is good but it will not allow access to the internet.

Please help.

forgot to mention

when I connect the modem in direct to the computer it works fine just no when connected to the router.

Turn the modem power off for 20 minutes. If that doesn't work, call your ISP and ask them to do a MAC reset.

Go to the setup page of your router and check the access restrictions page to make sure internet access is allowed.

Also, go to the Status page and make sure an IP address has been assigned to your router by your ISP

Folks, if it's cable internet it needs a MAC reset. Some providers automatically reset the MAC when you power the modem off for a while, others have to do it manually. The other option is to clone the MAC of your NIC into the router.
