Printer has lost it's connection to the server
I have two computers at home. Both are wireless. Our printer is directly connected to my computer.
Just recently, my daughter is unable to print to our printer. This has worked fine until recently. It seems like she first noticed this after we both upgraded to IE 7 but I don't why that would have anything to do with it. I've checked my computer and my printer is setup for printer sharing. When I originally set this up, I didn't use the network wizard, I simply offered my printer to share. At her computer, I added a new printer as a network printer. Her computer found the printer and boom it worked. Now, She cannot print but I can print (the printer is connected directly to my computer). I've deleted the printer from her computer and I've tried to re-installed it. Her computer will not find the printer. The message that I receive: "You've entered the printer name incorrectly or the specified printer has lost it's connection to the server". I've triple checked the computer name. My computer must be blocking the printer from the network but I cannot find the reason. I've checked my firwall exceptions and the file and printer sharing box is checked. |

Can I suggest that you connect one of the computers to the router with an Ethernet cable instead of running them both wireless?

It was working before. I don't want to change anything or go on any wild goose chases. I feel like this has something to do with recent windows updates.

I'll try to start from scratch.
Do you know how to delete a Network Group that was created with the Network Setup Wizard? |

I have the exact same problem after I upgraded to IE 7. I unstalled IE7 but the damage was already done. If you have solved the problem, can you let me know? |

I recently installed Windows Live One Care and there is an advanced setting that turns on print and file sharing capabilities. Go to:
1. View or change settings 2. Firewall 3. Advance Settings 4. Advanced (Enable print and file sharing) 5. This must be enable at both computers In addition, the firewall connection tool (found under the firewall tab) maybe useful. |
