You're going to find out that most of us here don't use Norton products so we really can't tell you which antivirus(?) is better/faster. Many members here use other antivirus programs that use less system resources and doesn't impact system performance as much as Norton's does.
AVG is a free antivirus many of us use. Avast! and AntiVir are two other free antivirus programs that are mentioned here from time to time. Others use NOD32 which is a highly regarded antivirus that you buy. My recommedation: If you want to buy a better antivirus, get NOD32. If you want a free antivirus, get AVG. Cricket

The last version of Norton I recommended was 2003. Beginning with 2004 it had too much bloat and too many issues for my liking. When my subscription for 2003 ran out I uninstalled it, installed AVG, and haven't looked back. I install AVG on all my customers' computers too. We also sell AVG Professional for our business customers with networks.
