poor wireless download

Hey All,
I have a belkin 802.11 g wireless card, but it always seems to have a low signal and a poor download speed of around 60kbps but if i use a wired conection for my internet i get 250kbps which is way better.
Can anyone advise me what to do regarding the wireless card, should i buy a new wireless card which is better, if so what kind.
Or should i buy a a signal booster, again what kind.
Or is there some settings anyone can recommend to get a better download from the belkin wireless card.

Thanks
Mark

How far are you from the signal source?

If there are walls and things in that ten metres you will be pushing the limits of the signal source, low signal strength will always result in slow downloads. You will need to look into a signal booster (access point) or run a cable and connect via hardwire.

hey,
i bought a belkin booster / access point to increase my signal, the booster assigned itself to my SSID, but my computer still has a low signal. i have the booster even in the same place as my pc and yet my signal remains low.
Any suggestions, is it possible to plug my pc directly into access point via ethernet and have that replace the wireless card?

Mark

It may be possible, you will need a crossover cable. You will have to reconfigure the access point to work in this mode.
