Once more: Limited or no Connectivity

Hi all, I posted over on the custom builds boards about building a computer for my mom but now I come to you for a completely different reason.

Alright my whole household is networked to the internet in the following manner. (btw we have Roadrunner Cable Internet Service Provider)

Cable comes from wall to modem, cord runs from modem to Linksys router, four different computers link to the four available slots on the router.

Here's where the predicament lies. Three of the four computers work fine for the internet connection, but we just switched two of the computers to different rooms and didn't bother taking the cords with them we just hooked up the cords that were already ran to that room into the networking cards. One of the computers (my computer, the one I am typing on now) works fine, no problamo. The other one gives a limited or no connectivity error.

That computer is using a Realtek RTL 8139 Family Fast Ethernet NIC, and it says its working properly.

Any help would be much appreciated, I have tried every possible thing I can think of and nothing has worked so far.

Thanks in Advance

it's highly possible the that other cable is a crossover cable, one that will not work (although I thought that Linksys router's had auto-detect?)

also, the jack in the room could be bad, i have seen this all to often. or the cable could be bad, again, it happens.

I don't know what it was but I got it to workin by turnin the modem off then turning off the Lan Hub then plugging them in one at a time.

Then had the problem of not being able to log onto any remote servers (we were trying to hook him up to different MMO's) so I put in the System restore Discs (after making sure I checked firewalls and such) and put it back to factory. That worked, that's all I am worried about
