Xerox Work center M15i not working w. wireless.

Hi,
I am running a new computer with a Vista operating system and have installed drivers for out Xerox Work Center 15i. The drivers are actually for Windows XP because they have no drivers yet for the Vista operating system. The printer works on the Vista machine fine, but when asked to print from a laptop connected wireless, it ques up the document on the desktop then errors out. Sharing enabled, permissions given. The only things I could think of were whe incompatable software or not properly giving permissiond. However, when clearing the que, the windows explorer of the vista machine errors out and restarts. Lots of wierd stuff happening when the laptop requests a print that doesn't happen when the desktop does.
Any suggestions? Surely i won't have to do without the printer on the network, huh?
Thanks,
Mike +

Could you explain in a little more detail as to how things are connected like what exactly is the Xerox connected to/what is the laptop wireless going to/how is your network setup.

Setup

Hi,
Well, the new desktop computer is hooked up (wired) to both the printer and an Actiontec wired and wireless Gateway. The Laptop is running wireless to the gateway.
Print request from the laptop makes it to the que on the new desktop computer, but errors out. Looks like somewhere between the que and the printer. My guess would be the software, but I don't know. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike +

I believe with those Actiontec modems, you can run wireless or wired and not both. Probably need to get a wireless router that also has extra ethernet ports.

No, that's not the case. It runs both at the same time. The old desktop has been wired and the laptop has been wireless on that gateway for years now.
Any other ideas? Maybe I could hear from someone who is running a company network that may be has solved the problem of vista and a xerox printer.
Maybe i sould post on the Vista part of this forum?
Thanks,
Mike +

I'm not sure there are drivers installed in the laptop for the Work Center printer. I figured that the desktop having the drivers installed would take care of the laptop reqests.
Ok, what do you suggest I do to prepare the laptop for printing through the network?

Also, same setup, with the desktop, with Publisher only, when printing I can only print one document at a time no matter how many I tell it to do. ???

Thanks in advance,
Mike +

On the laptop I selected the Work Center on the network to be the printer, tell it to print a document. The document ques up on the Vista desktop machine which is where the printer is hooked up to, then it errors out.
What else do you need to know?

Exactly how did you get the Work Center to be available on the network?
