On-board ethernet vs Ethernet Adapter
Hi guys,
I have read in the forums of Tradestation (stock platform) that if one has an ethernet adapter, their speeds are more consistent that on-board ethernet because onboard ethernet cannot support the high data feeds that comes from Tradestation. Is this true? and if it provides even the littlest difference, please, give me a link of a good ethernet adapter. Thanks guys |

It all depends on what the onboard adapter is. I haven't seen any onboards that can't handle standard Internet bandwidth but the onboard Nvidia adapters can be a pain in the butt - not because it's a bad adapter but because the drivers and software suck. If you want a high quality card, get a 3Com 3C905.

It really depends on both adapters that you're comparing. Are we talking about gigabit or standard 100 mbit ethernet? What motherboard do you have with the onboard adapter? In addition to GLC's suggestion, you can't go wrong with the intel pro series.
