router brands and types(G, Gplus, N)
I am in the process of looking for a router at home to share aninternet connection and some file transfering. I was wondering about the different major brands brands. From reading on this forum i come to the conclusion that most of you prefer linksys, but i was wondering sbout the other brands including: Belkin, d-link, and netgear. Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about the brands in general or about a specific model.
Also i am looking at the new n draft routers and i posted about them a while ago and the general direction of the post was to wait 6 months. Its been close to six months and i was wondering about the n draft routers again. Thanks for all the input Ben |

D-Link and Netgears are 'ok', meaning they are great for some, but problematic for others. We generally recommend Linksys because they are solid more often then the other brands.
Draft N is still that unfortunately, a draft. The spec has yet to be agreed on, so buying a Draft N router today still runs the risk of it not working with other hardware later on. The good news is that unless you want to stream video wirelessly all over your house, a G router will work just fine. This Linksys WRT54GL is the one to get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124190
