problem accessing a shared folder
I am having problem accessing a shared folder on one of my winxp pro edition computer with sp2 on it. I have shared an adobe acrobat file in a folder on this computer and i am trying to access this shared folder from another winxp pro edition with sp2 computer by going to network places but I am geting this error messege:
"The System cannot find the path specified" I can see this shared folder in the network place of the computer but get the error messege when i click on it but i can access this folder by typing its complete path in run. I type this in run : \\computer name\name of shared folder . I am sure that i can even access this shared folder by typing the IP address of the machine on which this shared folder is located. Any help? |

What is the error message you get in My Network Places, and are both computers in the same workgroup? HTH

Put them in the same workgroup and try again. Make sure any firewall software is disabled for testing.

The easiest way to share folders, in my opinion, is to map a network drive (map it as whatever letter you want it to be called, usually x, y, z, something like that...and select the folder on the network that you want to map it to). This has never caused problems for me. You can do it right from my computer. Just hit the "tools" menu, and hit map network drive. HTH

I have checked the settings of windows firewall on the computer which has shared folder.
In the exception tab, the "remote assistance" and "file sharing" is checked. I'll add both computers in the same workgroup and try again. Regards, |
