Holiday: Router reboot every 48 hours?

Hi guys,


Every few days I'll notice my routers connection to the outside world will die and by repluging the power cable it works fine, my computer will connect back and everything signs in as normal (it's been fine for now) but is it possible to have the router powercycle itself every 48 hours at about 3am or something since I'll be away in two weeks thus unable to manually power off the router and back on? Any cheap devices or something that can take care of that?

Maybe a simple light timer - plug it into the outlet and set it to turn on at 3am and off at 2am?

Sometimes old school tech is all you need, but it's not obvious if you are thinking high tech.........

Would something like this work, I want to power the router off and back on at 3am. It has a minimum switching period of 15 minutes. So it'll come at 3.15am

I get 3 for £3.99. bit of a bargain. I'll think something up for the other two.

Sweet, one other thing, this computer will be practically idle, would be be wise to unhook one stick of RAM, two DVDRW burners and one hard disk (one that wont be needed)

Would that save money for the 2 weeks of being idle, or just leave them in. I heard something like 2 DVD burners are about 40-60W?

I reserved them timers for instore collection.

I doubt you would save more than a few pennies - not worth the hassle.
