router on campus connection

Hello, I just moved back into schooll yesterday and am trying to figure out how to use my router here. The University doesnt support these devices so will not help me out much. Here is all they offer: http://campus.udayton.edu/~tss/routers.php

I'll admit I really know nothing about routers. Usually at home I just run the main ethernet cord (from my modem) into the router then separate cords from the router to my laptop, desktop, and Xbox 360 and it works fine. I tried that here and I get a message that says "Little or no internet connectivity available" pops up on the bottom right toolbar.

Any ideas?

thanks a ton

Reset your router to factory defaults.

You probably don't really want to use a router. If you want to use more devices than they have provided you ports for, just get a switch. If you use a router you won't be able to (easily) access any of the provided network resources, such as accessing your personal network storage and sharing files with your friends down the hall.

Edit:

Bah, nvm, looks like you'll have to use a router if you need more ports than they provide.

Looks to me like you can't even use a router -

Quote:
Port security is a new feature of the network that allows only 1 physical address on a given port at a given time. That means that only 1 computer can be on a port. Any hubs, switches, or routers will no longer function on the network. If for some reason you have one of these devices connected, the port will shut down, and it will appear to the computer as if your cable is unplugged.
