Network Printing "The RPC server is unavailable"

I have a print/file server setup on one of my older machines. The server is running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition.

Right when I setup the printer, and add the printer on all of the computers on my network, I can print documents fine to the server. But after about two days, it suddenly stops working, and then whenever I try to print a document to my server, it says "The RPC server is unavailable" It says this on all of my computers. But a day before it worked fine. And I did not touch any settings at all.

After that, I delete all the printers from the Printer and Faxes option on all of my computers. Then I re add all of them. Again, it works perfectly fine, for about 2 days, then I get the dreaded RPC server error.

Server Specs

Tyan S2495 Trinity KT400 Motherboard
AMD Sempron 1.6Ghz
512MB of DDR-400 Memory
Nvidia Geforce 3 64mb
Maxtor 40GB 5400RPM IDE Hard drive
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM SATA2 hard drive
LiteOn DVD ROM

Printer: Dell Photo AIO Printer 922

I recall having the exact same problem about 6 months ago when I setup a print server on my main computer. But then I think thats why I scrapped printing on a network. But now I need to have this running.

Thanks in advance

Have you considered using a hardware print server plugged into your router?

You won't need a new printer, I run a Linksys WPSM54G print server. It works great, NewEgg has a large selection of print servers

If he wants a new all-in-one with an internal print server, look at the HP Officejets. An example is the 6310, it lists for $249.99 Canadian.
