Okay - that kills that theory. I've seen issues exactly like that when the size is increased there.

What size monitor are you using and what is the screen resolution set to?

What video card are you using? Video driver up to date?

CRT of LCD? For a CRT that resolution is okay but for a LCD that resolution isn't high enough.

You are right, but I tried the recommended setting and it still does the same

I've also been a fan of NAV. I have it uninstalled right now so I could play with Avast before installing the newer NAV I have. (playing with AVG on my laptop) I have not noticed the miraculous performance increase that I've heard so much about: boot times are the same, shut down times are the same, and email and downloads show no difference, either. In the day of 2GB RAM, I'm not concerned with a few MB difference...

I've been using Norton Internet Security 2008 on one of my rigs for about a week now and the footprint is almost half of what 2007 used.

I took in a PC with Norton Systemworks on it last week and found it to be the first computer running Norton that I've seen in several years that was NOT infected. Maybe they finally got off of their ass and improved it. Or...maybe it was just a savvy user.

Only time will tell...

USAF members get NAV Corporate for free. I used it for a long time without issues but I think I like AVG better. I tried the Norton’s System Works with all the bells and whistles and I wasn’t happy with the footprint.

Yeah, I had the same experience with it. I'm an AVG fan, no doubt. It's been good to me and all of my customers for quite some time now.

It is odd/a little ironic that one of the best/preferred (on this site anyways) is totally free.

I've tried the cooperate version, too, but didn't like it. I could not turn off scanning on boot up and scanning on outgoing mail.

I used to also get it for cheap because of the company I worked for... but it was incredibly bloated compared to the other ones around, so I haven't touched it in over 4 years

All of the anti-malware programs I use for cleaning customer machines are free.

A non-expert here:
Anyone have an opinion on Avast vs AVG? Spyware Blaster (not as a spyware detector/remover, but as a blocker)?
Also, I'm intimidated by what I read about the complexity of Hyjack This. I've been using Win Patrol for years to avoid homepage highjacks and unauthorized start up programs. Anyone have any experience/opinions of it?
I get a bit of system slowdown with AVG Antispyware- does SAS have a smaller memory footprint?
Thanks!
