Wireless install for my cousin

I currently have a wireless network setup at my home that is broadband/router. The router and modem are in my room with my desktop that is WIRED. All other computers connect wirelessy. I connect my laptop via its factory installed wireless card and the other desktop connects via a wireless PCI card.

The network and wireless card were installed by best buy. I bet I could have installed it myself.

Regardless of the situation here, I am looking to install a wireless network in my cousin's home. He has 1 desktop and 1 laptop. I know for sure his laptop has a wireless card already installed and from my knowledge he has his desktop connected to the modem.

Now what I need to know is this. Shouldnt I be able to just setup the wireless network with a router alone? I think that I can install the router with the modem which will be connected to the desktop and the laptop will be able to connect anywhere in the house while in range.
Therefore I should not need a wireless card correct?

Im thinking buy the modem, run the setup disk and I should be able to do the rest as far as mac cloning and such. I do have a little experience with the network in my home so it shouldnt be too difficult.

All you need is a wireless router, connect the modem to it, connect the desktop to it wired. If his modem is a DSL modem, it may already have routing functions, you need to put it in the "bridge" mode and set up the router for PPPoE.

If it's a cable modem, just hook it up and clone the MAC. You do NOT have to run any software to set up a router, just log in to its IP address and use the web interface.
