Setup Wifi For Customer Use In Office.

i would like to offer wifi to customers waiting for their cars to be fixed.
we are running a dlink wireless wbr2310 to split the lan to a switch for internet access to the shop.
i would like to add another dlink after the first one so we have a hardware firewall to prevent customers from trying to get into our system.
then, they could connect to the first one from the modem and we would be secure from them on the second one.
i tried it for a bit but the second one acting as the firewall between the customer and us wouldn't work for wifi.
is this a good way to do this or is there a better way?

I will assume the WBR-2310 has an internal IP address of 192.168.0.1. Connect the modem to it and uplink it to your switch. Connect all company machines to the switch. Go into the router's admin and set wireless security, this will be wireless for company use. Run another cable from the WBR to your second router, connect it to the Internet/WAN port. Connect a laptop to it with a cable and log into it. Set it to obtain IP address automatically (DHCP) and change its internal IP address to 192.168.1.1. Activate the wireless and leave it unsecured. This will allow anyone in range to use the Internet but will not let them into your network. If you want to secure the second wi-fi, you can, but you will have to give your customers the WEP/WPA key.

the dlink was very problematic with dropping ip's and difficult logins.
now i am using a linksys wrt54g.
so i connect the modem cable to the internet socket on the back.
then i run a cable from the 4 port switch built into the router to the company switch.
then i run a second cable to a second router for customer wifi use and plug it into the 4 port switch on the second router?
i would change the second router to 192.168.2.1 since the first one is 192.168.1.1
is this good?

Not exactly. The cable to the second router goes into the Internet port, not a switch port. You need to keep the customers on a different subnet than your company network. The second router will pull a 192.168.1.x IP from the Linksys and translate it to 192.168.2.x IP's for the customers.
