Phone line problem

This phone line runs a fax machine most of the time and can accept and make phone calls when a phone is plugged into it. We run into a problem with it when we plug our stamp machine into it and it access dial up internet to refill itself. The company in charge of the machine tells us our phone line is bad and I cant see how when the fax and phone run fine across it. Any ideas?

Do you have any noise on the line when using the phone?

What is the problem? Is the stamp machine not connecting? Not releasing the line?

Are you able to 'hear' the dialup of the stamp machine? If so, do you get a dialtone? Does it ring? Do you hear 'connection talk'?

These different answers might help to narrow down where the problem is occuring.

You might want to try a low pass filter in the line. Available at electronic stores for somewhere around $10.00 and do wonders for noisy lines. But they don't do miracles.

You can have noise on the line and not be able to hear it.

You might also want to try unplugging any other devices from the phone jacks as a test. You might have something else giving a problem.
