problem: (2) desktop PIII computs(PIII w/ win XP prof) using Linksys usb wireless G adapter--neither comput will connect to wireless router
discussion: computer "a" (PIII 500 win xp prof) connects to access point OK BUT browser will not work--ie--no data is sent/received and "cant make connection" page appears. Comput "b" (PIII866)..same adapter--with same adapter and software-wont even connect to access point??? Same adapter/software works fine on my PIV (win xp home )notebook! when installing linksys adapter software on 2 desktops-got "windows incompatibility" message..why??--the adapter software says designed for win XP!! am at a loss ![]() TX |

Get rid of those USB adapters and put PCI cards in. Sorry to be blunt, but USB networking can be a pain in the neck.
XP does not need the utility software, it only needs the driver. XP has zero configuration wireless built in. |
