My HP suddenly lost the wireless internet connection. Not sure what happened but the little wireless icon in the lower right corner dissapeared? So Im only able to connect using a USB cable. How do I get that back?

Check your wireless router if Wirless/WAN LED is lit? If yes check Network Connection if your Wireless is connected. If not you need to access the routers page and check if Wireless is enabled.

How about rebooting the HP. If that didn't help then unplug the router power cord, wait about one minute, then plug the power back.

If the wireless icon disapeared then the wireless card got turned off or disabled. Check the control panel to see if it's disabled, and check for a physical switch on the outside of the laptop that turns the wireless off and on.

If there is no switch on the outside of the laptop case, check the function keys along the top row of keys of the keyboard.

That means the wireless adapter has died. If it's off warranty, get a PCMCIA wireless card or see if you can change out the mini-PCI card yourself.

That another reason HP sucks!!!! $1500.00 Laptop is 14 months old. So far 2 hard drives went out. The mother board is just about to go. The screen hinges broke and now the modem. Never again Hewlett Packard!!!!!!!!

If you have a Dell. If 7 major parts were replaced on a laptop even if its 3 years old, you will get a replacement system. Maybe check with HP if they can replace yours.
