computer=low ping, xbox=lag ???
Why is it I can play on a server with 63 other people on BF2 with no lag and a low ping rate but I can't even play on an 8 person game of Team Fortress 2 on xbox 360 with out lagging like crazy?
I am so pissed I bout this game for the 360 since there is no 1 player option with bots and I can not play it online. |

Exactly how are you connecting the 360 to the Internet?

Sorry should have mentiond that. It is hooked up through the same linksys router the computer is. Nothing different. That is what I don't understand, heck I don't even know how people try to play online with a wireless connection.
I also do not have both computer and xbox on at the same time, they each get shut down when not in use. |

Have you tried a different cable, different router port, and rebooting the router?

Yes I have tried several cables, I have a whole box full, unfortunately the one kink may be I have one of those extender pieces to link two cables together. That may well be the culprit. I did have a 200' cable I buit off a spool of cat5 I used but ended up losing to a roomate a couple years ago. I may just try ordering a custom lenght of cable to have one piece again.
I was also wondering if the whole xbox love thing wasn't trying to draw for other resources other than the game in progress like constantly scanning my console to make sure I haven't modded the system in any way. I knew people who had their accounts deleted on modded xbox's like that back in the day. But that brings up the point again that people acually connect and play wirelessly. |

Hook up a laptop to the exact same cable (coupler and all) that you use for the xbox and run some pings and connection tests and see what you get.

Man why didn't I think of that thanks I'll try that out.
This site is great. It's nice to have people with common sense answering questions for a change. |

Anyhow finally pulled myself away from BF2 long enough to check this out and got a speed of <1ms so no problems there. On the otherhand a friend brought over COD4 for the 360 and I get very little lag if at all so it must be the way TF2 is set up. Man I can't even begint to play that game though
