Wireless Network Unavailable
Today our home desktop PC stopped connecting to our home wireless router.
The home desktop is a Dell with Windows XP. I know I have a good wireless router since my laptop I use for working at home has no problem connecting. I am connected right now via this laptop and have an "Excellent" signal. The home desktop has an antenna that connects into the back of the computer with a screw-on connection. The issue is that absolutely nothing has changed on the desktop. It just decided to stop seeing the wireless network. When I go to "View Available Wireless Networks," there are no networks populating the list. Normally there would be my home network (secured) as well as several neighbor's networks showing. How can I fix this?

1. Open the device manager and make sure the wireless adapter is not disabled or flagged.
2. Open the network connections and make sure the wireless connection is not disabled. 3. Reinstall the wireless adapter drivers. |

Thanks.
I have a LinkSys wireless router, but I do not have the LinkSys card in my PC. I have an antenna that screws into the back of the PC at the bottom. So (I think) my wireless connection in the PC is the Intel card. I went to Device Manager and "Uninstalled" this device. Then I restarted the PC in order to have it find the device and automatically reinstall the driver. Unfortunately, there was no device recognized on restart. Still the same problem. Since the antenna wire screws into a port on the back of my PC at the bottom, what device does this sound like? How do I reinstall its driver? |
