Okay, this is driving me nuts. I'm trying to open ports in order to host games on WWP online. I've attached a block diagram of my network.
I know what I have to do is enter the IP of the default gateway into my web browser. But when I do, it can't connect. I found this IP address by running 'ipconfig' in command prompt. I researched why it can't connect, and I realize it may have something to do with my router being NAT enabled. But I don't know. Help? If you need more information just tell me what you need. Router: Thompson SpeedTouch 530 Switch: ZyXEL Dimension ES-108 My computer is running MS XP sp2 with TM Pc-Cillin 2007. Last edited by rjfvillarosa; 02-19-2008 at 06:31 AM. |

Oh, sorry! I was kinda frustrated.
Can someone help me or is the only advice I'm going to get not to put swear words in the title? |

How many firewalls do you have?
XP firewall and another? Router firewall? Is that a router or a modem? what happens when you connect directly to the router? |

I guess it's a router because it came up on this site I was trying to use:
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...ch530index.htm I have the XP firewall, and the Pc-Cillin firewall. When I connect directly to the router, nothing new happens, I'm just not on the network and the other computer can't connect to the internet because my computer is connected diretly to the router. I got the switch so that both computers could connect to th internet at once. |

Disable or uninstall the PCcillin firewall, XP firewall doesn't play nice with third party firewalls, try that and see what happens.

Pretty sure it's not the firewalls that are causing problems. It would have notified me if it were, and I've checked my allowances.
I've been doing my research, and I was actually entering the wrong IP address into my browser when I was trying to connect to the router. I got the right one using 'ipconfig/all', but I'm not the one who set the username and password so I'll have to wait, I may have to reset the router to factory settings and set it up again, but hopefully not. When I do connect to the router, I'll forward all the ports I need, and see if it works. I don't think the switch will have anything to do with it for now. So I'll keep you posted, thanks anyway. |
