Going to Manually Reset Router, What Will Happen?

I've been wanting the control panel password for the router at home here, but no one will give me it. I want to make some minor adjustments so the network will stop crashing after I use BitTorrent.

Right now I'm on my neighbor's Internet, and I find that I am usually on it because my stepbrother probably did not configure our Internet here directly.

So I've decided to make the bold move of pressing the reset button in front of the router and configuring it myself from scratch.

I've never done this before. What usually happens? Will I have to plug and unplug the CAT5 cables again just to get the modem to connect to our ISP again? I know the password for our Internet provider so I am not concerned with not being denied access to our ISP.

Pressing the reset button will reset the router to its factory defaults.
It sounds like you dont own the router so maybe you should leave it alone.
Maybe they dont want you using bit torrent.

Does this reset the password as well?

The network keep going down now regardless of anything I do. It's obviously not set up right.

Just pressing the reset button may or may not reset it. It depends on exact router model. It may just reboot it.
