Replaced wireless router, wired pcs now inaccessible
Our Linksys Wireless G router recently became flaky so I replaced it with a new Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (model F5D9230-4) router. This new router has been outstanding in terms of wireless service and internet access, however we have somehow lost access to another PC on the wired network that acts as a printer server and additional storage.
The printer server PC shows up on Network Places, etc., but whenever I try to print to, or access a shared folder on the server PC, I get an error saying that it's unavailable. I've checked the print server PC itself and it accesses the internet through the router just fine, so I'm assuming that the print server PC doesn't have a communication issue with the router. Likewise the other wired PCs on the network can access the router (and the internet) okay too; it's just the printer server PC that's playing hard to get. I've gone through the Belkin web browser interface setup to look for something I might have missed, but I'm stumped. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Walt PCs wired to the router: - Printer Server PC: Windows XP Pro SP2 - PC: Windows XP Pro SP2 (this is the PC I use to set up the router) - PC: Windows Vista - Sony PS3 |

It looks like the default ip addresses are different for the Linksys and the Belkin routers. The devices having trouble might have ip addresses not in the new router's range. Is the print server's ip address static? You might have to reassign it.

Thanks for the reply. You're right, the default IP addresses of the Belkin router are different. It took a call to Belkin (who told me they don't support file sharing issues) and a 90 minute phone call with Microsoft support to determine that McAfee AV firewall didn't like the new IP addresses. I had to add the new IPs to McAfee's trusted IP list. Everything's fine now.
