AVG miniport question....
I have this new build and when looking in the device manager I notice that I have the yellow exclamation mark there. Here is what it reads..under network adapters..
"realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC-AVG miniport driver" another yellow exclamation mark under that one... "WLAN Miniport (IP) - AVG miniport driver" Not sure what this is but in properties it shows it to be a Grisoft manufacture. Here is what device status shows... "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device." I get the same for both but yet it won't allow me to uninstall them. I don't seem to have any problems so far running anything but I just got this built. I am running avg 8.0 free version. Thanks. |

Have you installed the NIC driver?
Try updating it?

AVG miniport question....
hi,
i had exactly the same problem with a customers pc. theirs is broadcom as its a laptop. it won't let you update and it won't let you disable/uninstall. the laptop blue screens on start and when you continue it loads and works fine. other thing is it will not let you do a system restore. uninstalling it doesn't solve the problem either. have been looking around for a solution but there doesn't seem to be one yet. i haven't tried 'safe mode' yet but will give it a go soon and see if it works. On another note, i work on a computer helpdesk at the moment supporting Vista. we have encountered quite a few issues with avg 8.0 free not installing. the error message says that windows is not up to date and a fix is needed. when you go to windows update and apply the fix it says your windows is up to date! we have been advising customers to download and install the free trial of Kaspersky AV and then come back to avg then to see if there is any improvement. don't think its related to SP1 as this was happening b4 SP1 was released as AU. |

I have AVG 8.0 free installed on both a Win2K and a XP Pro box - and neither one show any AVG miniports in device manager. What OS are you using?

I konw the reason
I met the same problem, and alslo can not access to the internet. but now, I have solve half of it. when we install the AVG 8.0, and make settings about the network, maybe we made improper settings, and it influnce the network card. and when we want to uninstall it, disabled. and I try my best to uninstall it, and uninstall the system network driver, and then reinstall the network card driver, and then I can get on the internet. but the yellow exclamatory mark still exists in the AVG miniport. so I only solve half of the problem.
If there's anybody can solve it completely, please tell us the way. Thanks.

Fix for Device Mgr. Error - AVG miniport
I ran into the same problem with multiple (!) exclamation marks in my device manager. I'm running the full version of AVG 8.0, Windows XP (sp2).
I emailed AVG tech support, and they never replied to me. I searched diligently for a fix, but it was to no avail. It seems there are a few people out there experiencing this problem. After trying many things, I was able to fix the device manager errors. Here's what worked for me: I went to "Network Connections" and disabled and re-enabled Firewall protection for each connection. I had 2 'avg miniport' exclamation marks. One for my NIC and the other for a 1394 port. Once I disabled and re-enabled firewall protection for each device, the exclamation marks in the device manager disappeared. This forum was one of the sites that I found while trying to find a fix. I recently registered just to post what worked for me. I hope it helps for anyone else that is dealing with this issue. Good luck and best wishes. |

:) danno01 suggestions WORK! :)
I did as danno01 said he had done. In my case the Windows firewall was already disabled as McAfee's firewall was active.
I enabled the Windows firewall & my System Devices are now all good. Thanks danno01 ! |

Hello guys!
I did it! As it is said by Danno01, one have to diseble firewall, but it was not enough for my comp. In Propreties of connections (Lokal Area and my provider) in Network I found elements were AVG miniport was on. Just turning off did`t work, so I remove it. And it works! Hopefully it will stil do the protection part. ![]() Thank you Danno01! |

Hey guys,
So I had a similar problem and being that it was entirely frustrating I thought I would post my full and complete fix, as this forum helped with my resolution. The problem: Something went wrong with an AVG 8.5 upgrade, causing the upgrade to fail. I was updating from what I think was AVG 7.5, but as the user started the upgrade without me I'm not entirely certain. So the upgrade fails for some unknown reason. I decide to install AVG from scratch. This finishes without any problems, or so I thought. After doing the required reboot suddenly none of the networking is working - the wireless in particular. Troubleshooting: I go through all your standard network troubleshooting with zero success. Finally I decide to check device manager, thinking maybe I'll update the wireless driver. Sure enough, yellow exclamation marks (!) on all the network adapters. Not only that, each adapter had been re-labeled to include "AVG Mini-Port". *** AVG? I entirely uninstall AVG at this point, which of course doesn't fix the problem. So I hit Google and start searching for related posts. Sure enough I find this page. I went through re-enabling the windows firewall (which was in fact disabled), I then tried what Danno had recommended by disabling and re-enabling the firewall across all the adapters, with reboots in between. None of this seemed to fix the problem for me though. So I try to reinstall the wireless driver manually, to which it doesn't let me. I try and use the wireless drivers automatic setup, which completes, but after a reboot didn't fix the problem. Then, after re-reading this page I realized I missed something. I didn't check the list of installed network components on the adapter. I went to the network connections, right-clicked on the local area connection for the ethernet adapter, and went to properties. Sure enough in the components list there was an AVG Filter component. I uninstalled that and then rebooted just to be safe. When uninstalling it, it said it would effect all adapters, which made me pretty happy because evidently this AVG Filter component wasn't listing under the wireless network adapter properties. Sure enough, after a reboot, everything in device manager looked back to normal. The wireless was trying to search now, hooray! It still wasn't quite working though - and this is because the wireless zero service and WiFi management options had been all messed up by AVG. So I ended having to go into windows services and restart the Wireless Zero Configuration (more or less to be on the safe side), and of course made sure it was set to automatic. I also had to select "Let windows manage my wireless connection". Once I had those two things set, the wireless clicked away with no problems. I didn't have the means to check the ethernet adapater at this time, but I'm confident it is fine. I was then daring and downloaded a fresh copy of AVG and did the install from scratch, and it went through just fine. Ta da! I hope this helps someone in the future. ![]() AVG, I like your scanner, and thank you for the free version, but seriously - stop forcing upgrades that don't work, and please stop messing up peoples network suites. Thanks! |

It seems AVG coworks with Windows firewall and some AVG files should be registered here. This should be how to fix it. http://ftp.lipi.go.id/pub/antivirus/...gd_en_71_4.pdf Best regards |
