Hello and Thank you to all who help any of us who stumble around trying to find answers. Here's my problem (well not mine cause I haven't been near AOL in ten yrs).A friend who had AOL (oops I mean has AOL on computer) Asked me to set up computer to get on poker sites. So I saw AOL on it told him we should get rid of it! So I delete it Ha HA HA HA .So of course I screwed it up.everything looked like it had un installed,Of course wrong! AOL's installed firewall stuck around to cause about 6/7 months of pain so far.Can anyone help me with this? What a frickin joke AOL is!!Yeah lots more like them. Thanks again everyone.(my two cents) firefox, ZA firewall, AVG anti .I have had zero problems.Had just ZA on for over 6 months not one problem.I never use IE unless of course have to to connect to certain sites ie pc pitstop etc .If its not broke why screw with it ? oops I'm on cable, always on. I know I could never have gotten away with 6 hrs much less 6months w/IE

Damn got so long winded I didn't put in post what steps I have tried.I deleted AOL from add remove when I started this 1hr project 9 months ago.I haven't been working on this for well over 4 months so I don't remember every thing I've tried.I do remember installing some program that I was told to try on another forum. I read on here to try CCCleaner to remove stubborn files left over by un install I did this when I started Here is list of Apps I ran from get go CCCleaner, spybot Ad aware windows malicious software remover,AVG Z.A. .most likely others also .but not there so I can't look up at this moment.Went to search to try and find AOL not found . I have opened/ explored c: there are no AOL entries anywhere. I believe I read that the FireWall AOL installs is third party software searched for it way back when. Of course I don't recall name but sure I looked and searched for it. I apologize for length of this post But it is helping me remember a couple of issues,His dvd/cd drive isn't working,as I was going to save his picture and other important files but couldn't get computer to open run play anything in d drive.I am remembering that he did have some sort of malware bug on his comp.Which I believe I removed in beginning> OK Imust have found how to remove it some where in forums. Now that I recall there other issues I'm going to upload his pictures to flickr or picasa.I hope he does not have any other doc's he needs because I'm lost as how i would do this w/o d drive working.I tried one of my cd/dvd in his,did not work either.yes I went into setup I think it saw it there but wasn't seen in windows.as I said earlier all this was long time ago.I know I have or will render this post obsolete if I in fact decide to reformat I would still like to know why I can't find this firewall.Could this have deen because of virus/bug he picked up on my good friend Bills IE.6 LOL.What problems am I going to run into trying to reformat his hard drive?.with drive not working this is going to sux.I would just bring over one of my HDs but not same .Is there any way to do this short of networking (another headache Im sure, due to virus problem missinr files etc). Thanks to all or anyone who has stuck around this long for advise/solution BTW I know this is longgggg has grammatrical errors.Sorry for these but looking at post go up in about a week if I proof read and fix

If you have tried all the normal methods and it is still somehow lurking you could post up a HJT log and get rid of it that way.

If you are the same person, please tell me which account you want to keep. We only allow one account per person.
- Admin - We need a HJT log, not just a startup list report. |
