Can internet connection cause system freezes?

A lot of freezes in my system for a long time, lately I thought it might be an unstable power supply, but all the game freezes seem to occur with online gaming and someone mentioned that an online connection may be the culprit.

If online specific gaming could cause this, what could be the issue?

I have 2 different connections:
Marvel Yukon that I am currently using
Nvidia nforce not currently connected to anything

2 games in particular, CoH and Tracknations, thoug I have had freezes with Teamfortress2.

Thx

it very well might be a driver setting or applet/application that is only used when running this game that is causing the system to lock up.

troll the game's forums and see if there are others having similar issues and if there is a workaround.

Do you install the game into your computer and than play it online eg.CQC and Counter Strike.
Or Do you directly play online eg. miniclip.com ?

It is not necessarily the ISP issue ,it could either be an issue of the Server with which you connect while playing game online. Maybe the response from that Server is too slow due to which your game becomes slow and your whole computer freezes.

Please also check how much RAM of your system is being used by these games.

Press ALT+CTRL+DEL and then click on Task Manager and than click on Performance and see what is the CPU Usage and PF Usage?
