I just updated my OS from W2K to Windows XP Pro, and the upgrade wiped out my network connection. I did reinstall my MOBO chipset and Ethernet drivers and managed to re-establish network connection via my cable modem.
However, while I can connect to the Internet via my browser, my anti-virus update service "can't find the server," and--much more ominous--I can't get my copy of XP Pro authorized on the Microsoft Web site due to more of this "can't find server" business! And use of my copy of XP Pro EXPIRES in 28 days, unless... My MOBO is an Asus A7V880, using a Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit LAN driver (which I reinstalled), and VIA 4 In 1 Drivers (also reinstalled). How can I get my network connection to properly connect to the Microsoft web site so I can get my XP Pro authorized? And ditto my A-V update service. Last edited by MarkTwain; 12-09-2008 at 10:26 AM. Reason: reformatting |

Please do not start a new thread, you already have one going on your upgrade problems.
