ping mysteries
ok now i understand that the ping depend on ure location and the target server
location and its all about the distance between them ... but why in my case it works like an elevator up and down ??? in the game i play bf2 i live in the middle east and the server is in east Europe it gose like 90 ms then 150 ms then 300 ms then 400 ms its just crazy i get kicked from the server ... i get back after a while and its 80 ms .. now i know why i could have high ping or low ping at a specific server .. its the distance like i said but why do i get this up and down thing |

Congestion somewhere between you and the server, and most likely totally out of your control. The worldwide infrastructure is not always big enough to keep up with demand. It may be at your ISP, or at any one of the routing points between you and the server.

As glc says, it's more likely an issue of congestion and/or the quailty of the gear at each hop.
Could do a " tracert" from a cmd line. That would give a transmission time for each hop to the game server. then you will be able to see if long times are at your end or someplace in between.

yes but so could too much traffic (too much traffic is more than likely the issue).

If 62.135.92.1 is your ISP's gateway, the conditions between you and it are pretty lousy.

It can be anything between your router and your ISP's central server.
However, that second tracert shows a problem between 172.20.1.234 and 64.214.151.81. No idea where either of those are located as there is no DNS record. When the choke point moves around like that, it's generally due to excess traffic and insufficient capacity. Again, not too much you can do about that. The infrastructure has not kept up with demand in your area of the world. |
