xbox 360 connection sharing
Ok, I just paid enough for the xbox 360 and the games, I don't really wanna shell out another 100 clams for their wireless adapter. Is it possible for me to patch this thing to my PC in the same room with ethernet cable, and make it use the wireless internet adapter I have attached to that? If so, does anyone know how all I would make it do that?
To be clear on how I have the network... My cable modem has my wireless router attached to it, and I have another computer wired into the router, but that isn't really going to affect us. Now, upstairs where I have my computer, and my 360. My computer connects to the router with a wireless adapter, and I'm attempting to make the 360 connect to the internet though my computer, but am not sure how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

your best bet is to connect the Xbox to the router, if possible.

It's doable, but will give you nothing but headaches. Your best option is to run a wire or 2 to that room, and failing that shell out for the xbox wireless adapter.

Run a CAT 5 cable to your room, and get a cheap $10 switch for running both devices hardwired. You will have the least issues with both devices this way.

Nah absolutely easy peasy
I've done it myself. Cat5 cable into your laptop and ICS the wireless connection to your wired connection |

Do you have to use a crossover cable like when connecting two computers? or does the Xbox act the same as a switch or router?

Gah, I believe its a crossover cable.
When you select ICS you can select which wired connection to share to. I renamed my wired connection to xbox and then the ICS assigns a IP to the wired connection. |

ICS is not going to work if your router is in the 192.168.0.x subnet, and even if it works, the double NAT is going to drive the Xbox crazy.

If you care at all about how well this works and how well your connection to xbox live is, either run the cable or buy the wifi adapter. |

Ye Ole Have No Faith.
My Xbox loves me I suppose. my network is 192.168.1.x and the xbox works just fine, I do get a NAT problem but its easily fixed with a few telnet commands supplied by my ISP. Its all research and trial and error gentlemen, I know it works fact because I bought XBL when I realised it worked. |
