Intermittent net connection

I have to reset my dsl modem and router at least twice a day when its being used. If I'm downloading something I may have to reset is every 20 minutes or so.

I have an Arescom NetDSL 800 dsl modem running into a Netgear RP614 v2 Web Safe Router. They are both aging. I have four computers on the network but its usually limited to two or three. Very rarely all 4 are on and accessing the web.

Do you guys have any suggestions???

Hook a PC directly to your modem to be sure the router is not the cause of the problem.
Have you contacted your provider about the problem?

Not yet. I hate calling support.

Will try running the modem through a computer and seeing how that works out.

Most DSL modems these days are actually combo router/modems. This can cause issues with 3rd party routers unless the modem is reconfigured as just a bridge.

I'm reading that you may not be able to. Contact your ISP for proper configuration for your modem and your router.
