Are All Cable Modems the Same?
I getting ready to order a Linksys WRT54GL router and that made me think about the modem.
I have the original modem Comcast gve me several years ago, a Surfboard SB3100. I don't pay rent on it. Are there better, faster modems out there?

Not really, as long as Comcast still supports DOCSIS 1.1. Are you having issues with it?

I have speednet high speed wide band wireless internet service, the internet service went out the other day and could not get the modem to link up, I called for service and the guy had to climb my 40 ft tower to check the antenna and found that the dish was full of water and ice inside the front cover,
he replaced the antenna with the flat yagi type and the service was restored, I asked him if the cable modems like the linksys cable modem would work on my system, and he said that all the cable modems were the same, weather for the wireless or wired cable systems. so I belive the answere to your question would be yes |
